Volunteering

All quality non-profit organizations need community resources to help them achieve their goals. At INSIGHT, volunteers are not only welcomed and appreciated, but are an integral part of our operation.  We are currently seeking volunteers for the following areas:

Radio Reading Volunteer

INSIGHT Radio is a closed circuit radio reading service that brings the reading of newspapers, magazines, and books to Rhode Islanders who are blind and visually impaired.  We are currently seeking a reader to work as part of a team of two to read articles from the Providence Journal every Thursday morning.  Volunteers need to arrive by 8:30AM to clip articles from the newspaper and then read the articles live on the radio from 9AM - 11AM.  Volunteers must complete a reading audition and must be able to commit to volunteering for at least six months.

Drivers

Each month a variety of local churches and other community groups host a luncheon for our clients.  Unfortunately each month several people are unable to attend due to a lack of transportation.  So, we are always in need of volunteers who would be willing to pick up one or two INSIGHT clients at their home, transport them to the event, and bring them home at the end.  The events are typically held on Thursdays from 12:30PM - 2:00PM.  Volunteers are invited to stay for lunch.
